AREAS 4 & 5 CHARITY DINNER AUDITIONS

Posted by Alex Q

If you would like to audition for the Area 4 & 5 Charity Dinner on April 20, please read the following instructions:

1) Record a 3-5 minute audition of what you (or your group) can do! This doesn’t have to necessarily be your final act, but just something to show us your talent.

2) Upload it onto Youtube as set as “unlisted” and send area4@interact5170.org and area5@interact5170.org and email with your name (or group name), school, and contact phone number. We don’t want public YouTube videos because we don’t want people to see the acts beforehand!

3) We’ll be sending you an email confirmation that we’ve received your audition, so if we haven’t done so within two days after sending your audition, then feel free to nag us until we respond!

Please double check if you are free on April 20. Performers will be sign a performer’s contract and pay a $20 safety deposit. If you are accepted, you are expected to perform, or else will keep your $20 as a donation towards Free The Youth.

AUDITIONS ARE DUE ON FEBRUARY 29 AT 11:59 PM! Please get them in ASAP! If you have any questions, feel free to email us at area4@interact5170.org and area5@interact5170.org.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to the first annual District Wide Day of Service! Area 5 Interactors separated into two groups: one group cleaned up Lake Elizabeth and the other tested and packaged the water pasteurization indicators (WAPIs) that were made at the Fall Leadership Conference! Service is such an amazing way to bring people together, so I hope you all made some new friends, strengthened some old friendships, and are excited for the future!

Area 5 WAPI Packaging and Park Clean-Up

Where? Lake Elizabeth in Fremont

When? December 18, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

What? First of all… what the heck is a WAPI? WAPI stands for Water Pasteurization Indicator. In third world countries, energy is wasted by boiling water for longer than necessary, so the WAPI contains a tube of wax which melts to indicate to the user that the water is safe to drink. These WAPIs are REUSABLE and will last for quite some time, so these will be an amazing gift for people in unhygienic areas around the world. We will be finishing what we did at FLC by taking those WAPIs, testing them in boiling water, and then packaging them up.

THE SECOND PART of the day will be cleaning up Lake Elizabeth! Our community service theme for 2011-2012 is GO GREEN, so why not clean up a beloved place in our own community?

Items to bring:
+ Warm clothes
+ Plastic trash bags
+ A good attitude!

The location is also tentative because we might split into two groups: one group at Mission Coffee testing and packaging the WAPIs and another at Lake Elizabeth. Keep on the look out for more updates!

HOT CHOCOLATE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR VOLUNTEERS AT LAKE ELIZABETH.

Peace & love.
